Found out I had purchased BF2 on steam in 2011 - score I even have all my original discs, and the BF2 complete collection disc, but I didn't have the boxes so no keys. Thank god for steam.

hello all, my 2 cents... as far as what game it really depends on what you the community wants . Do you want the latest and greatest graphics and what's popular. Or do you want to have one of the best experiences online with teamwork.
basically my point is if you want to create a certain style of game play (21CW) you either have to mod it or make a rule about it. I know bad word RULE . Yuk. How about guidlines that sounds better.
pick a game that the masses have easy access to and is mod capable. Something like IDK
        BF2.
Lol McBain!! But yes, that is exactly why i opened this thread. We want to find out
        1) what the masses would like to play,
        2) of there is enough animo within the community for - say - a 'throwback scrim'. (A campaign would be too much i think).
        3) what other game(s) would be most suitable for our style of gameplay.

Venice Unleashed seems a dead project now though.

We will have to see what BF5 holds in 2 days, but I wouldn't get my hopes up Battlefield has been a let down for the most part since BF2 in my opinion. With that said I think that whatever format you choose you should always keep in mind that you will have to remain adaptable. For this community to work I think you really need one of the top 2 First person shooters. Anything below that you are fighting for players on a ever shrinking player base.

Maybe just formulate a specific way of playing, tactics and what not then adapt to whatever game that comes out, and just find a way to make it work in those. I know way easier said then done. I just remember when I left 21CW was on the way down because we didn't continually renew our player base. For me I left due to becoming a father and the pressures that puts on you time, and I know there where at least a few guys in the same boat as me. If we can stay in games that have a high player base then we should be able to constantly cover people that have to leave due to real world issues.

              just my 2 cents.

OK all you Old Timers - What about the new Battlefield V coming out in October? Reveal is today. LdrHavoc, Havoc, Ashes, Stumpy and I have been doing Arma 3 Life Project for a few years but Arma 3 is outdated now. We are looking forward to something new.

I think the game itself will be better suited for what I have seen and read now. One of the biggest concerns is that of (moddable) private servers.
